Freya’s practice largely comprises employment advisory for corporate clients together with a strong litigation focus. Freya has developed a specialised practice in the field of discrimination and sexual harassment. Freya successfully managed the day to day conduct of the largest discrimination matter in Australia, where she acted for Christina Rich in her highly publicised Federal Court proceedings against PricewaterhouseCoopers until its resolution in 2008. Ms Rich described Freya as combining “unique attributes of a very sharp legal brain with a very deep compassionate nature which as a client gives you unwavering confidence in her ability to succeed.”
Freya's experience includes advising employers on a variety of issues including award obligations and workplace agreements, employment contracts, commercial restructuring, redundancy, restraint of trade, discrimination, performance management, OH&S and termination. Freya advises and acts for employers in unfair dismissal, unlawful terminations and discrimination claims and represents clients frequently in the courts and industrial commissions.
Freya joined Harmers as a solicitor in June 2006 having previous experience in dispute resolution as well as corporate and commercial law.
Freya holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales where she was also a Social Justice Intern.
Prior to being admitted as a solicitor, Freya worked as an Industrial Relations Officer in the private sector for the flour milling and registered clubs industries.
