Richelle completed the course work for a combined Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Business Degree at the University of Newcastle in 2007. During her studies, Richelle majored in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management and was awarded a university prize for best performance in Jurisprudence.

Richelle began working in employment law in June 2006 before joining Harmers in December 2006 as a summer clerk. Richelle continued to work at Harmers until the completion of her studies, and was admitted as a solicitor in October 2008.
