Nichola Constant

Senior Associate & Team Leader

Recently joining Harmers in October 2007, Nichola brings to the firm over 6 years of human resources managerial expertise as well as a further 7 years specialising in industrial and employment law.

Nichola holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of New England. She was admitted as a solicitor in October 2000. Prior to her admission as a lawyer, Nichola worked in Human Resources at one of Australia’s largest banks. Given the close interaction between human resources, industrial relations functions and overall business management within companies, Nichola’s background in remuneration and benefits, learning and development, expatriate management and general Human Resources issues gives her an integral understanding of her clients’ needs.

Nichola provides strategic and practical advice in relation to a range of employment and industrial law issues, including:

· discrimination and equal employment opportunity;

· separation management;

· drafting and negotiating workplace agreements;

· unfair dismissal and unfair contracts;

· contractual terms and company policies; and

· change management issues.

Nichola has represented clients in, among other things, conciliations and hearings in the District Court of New South Wales and Industrial Relations Commission of NSW, Australian Industrial Relations Commission and the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission. She also presents seminars to HR advisors and managers on employment law issues.
