WORK CHOICES - THE DEBATE

Harmers Workplace Lawyers hosted the NSW Launch of the Australian Institute of Employment Rights in Sydney at the City Recital Hall Angel Place from 6pm through 8pm on Tuesday 14 November, 2006.

The Australian Institute of Employment Rights is an independent body formed by respected professionals engaged as employers and their representatives, labour rights advocates, unions, academics and industrial relations practitioners. The Institute aims to generate balanced discussion on workplace issues during this vital period of Australian workplace reform.

The NSW launch involved a high profile debate mediated by Jana Wendt and followed an introduction by the Institute Patron, the Hon. Bob Hawke. The key theme was "What has been the impact of Work Choices - and what should be the future direction of industrial relations reform in Australia?". A panel discussion followed the debate on the broader aspects of industrial relations and workplace reform.
